Shelton Abbey Education Unit

Shelton Abbey Education Centre provides opportunities for inmates to engage with education programmes on a voluntary basis. The focus of the centre is to facilitate positive educational experiences to all participants, many of whom may not have had such experiences in the past.

A wide variety of ability levels are catered for, with most programmes leading to QQI certification. Locally accredited courses are also offered and are accepted as a vital part of what is offered.

The hope is that time spent in the centre will lead to an interest in further study or a continuation of what has begun.

College applications are actively pursued for people deemed suitable as a result of the time spent in the centre
